WATCH: Starmer signs off final PMQs to standing ovation

Sir Keir Starmer received a standing ovation from his party and fellow MPs after giving his final answer to Prime Minister’s Questions.

In his final statement, Starmer said: “To those in the gallery, to those whose lives have been changed or improved by this Labor government, and to all those across the country struggling to be seen and heard, you are the reason I came into politics.”

“To my wife and children, I love you. Goodbye,” the Prime Minister said as several MPs stood and clapped for Starmer to shake hands with the Speaker of the House of Commons.

Andy Burnham is set to become Labor leader later this week, and is expected to take over as Prime Minister on July 20. The first PMQs will not appear until after the summer break.
