Shocking for cock lovers
France’s journey at the 2026 World Cup ended at the semi-final stage with a two-goal loss to Spain, dashing Kylian Mbappe’s hopes of leading the Roosters to a second successive title and a third in the final three games of the tournament.
The exit was not just a sporting defeat for Mbappe. Rather, it brought back one of his most famous moments, following Qatar’s 2022 World Cup final defeat to Argentina on penalties, when he posted a picture on social media of himself holding the Golden Boot as the tournament’s top scorer, with the World Cup in the background, accompanied by just one word: “We will be back”.
The post became a global phenomenon, garnering more than 150 million views, and many saw it as a simple promise to French fans to return to the final and try to make up for losing the title to Argentina.

Four years later, Mbappe actually managed to lead France to the semi-finals, but was unable to fully deliver on the promise after Spain ended the Roosters’ dream in the semi-finals, causing France to miss out on the finals for the first time since the 2014 World Cup.
Mbappe had a good tournament on an individual level, scoring 8 goals to top the scoring charts, but was unable to make a difference against Spain, who imposed their control over the match and qualified for the final 2-0.
So the tweet that inspired French fans after losing the 2022 final turned into a painful memory after France’s journey to the 2026 edition ended before reaching the game Mbappe had vowed to return to.
