World No. 1 Padraig Harrington is aiming to become the first back-to-back winner at The Open, with Scheffler the pre-tournament favorite to claim a fifth major title in as many seasons.

No rain is forecast for the first two days of the tournament, with only a slight chance of rain over the weekend. Here is the forecast issued by the site’s meteorologist ahead of the tournament:

Open field: Who is playing at Royal Birkdale?

There are 156 players in the field for this week’s major, the last in four months of men’s golf. The Open is followed by the Masters (April 9-12), the PGA Championship (May 14-17) and the US Open (June 18-21).

Play will start at 6.35am on Thursday and Friday, while weekend tee times will depend on how many players make the cut.

The top 70 players and after 36 holes will break ties and qualify for the final two rounds.
