UK Weather: The ongoing heat wave will provide exceptional hours of sunshine

This year’s third heat peak was on Thursday July 9 and Friday July 10, with temperatures reaching 35C. Although temperatures have dropped slightly since then, some parts of the UK still consistently reach 30C.

On Tuesday, the UK recorded its 10th consecutive day of temperatures of 30C or more in some areas. Teddington, Richmond-upon-Thames, Kew Gardens and Heathrow, in London, are among the areas above 30C.

Strong easterly to north-easterly winds have pushed the maximum temperatures to the west in recent days. But as the winds die down, the heat will be more widespread and temperatures are forecast to rise this week.

Heat wave restrictions could be met again in Scotland, Northern Ireland and northern England.
