Trump administration puts Americans in Congo "don’t do-board" list, prevent return



The Trump administration on Monday barred US citizens from the Democratic Republic of the Congo from returning home due to the ongoing Ebola outbreak.

Reuters first reported it Last Monday, Americans who are in the DRC or who have recently traveled to a country affected by Ebola will be placed on the “no travel” list. They cannot return to the US until they have spent 21 days in a third country. The law, which was adopted under the transportation authority known as Title 49, was independent confirmed by Politico on Tuesday.

Both outlets noted that about a dozen Americans who flew home on Tuesday have already been blocked by the new law. It is unclear whether the bar also applies to government employees. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has at least a dozen employees working in the DRC.
