Boomers, not Gen Z, are the generation that cut back on alcohol the most

Baby boomers are the generation that is cutting back on alcohol consumption the most, surpassing the abstinence of Gen Z, as caution affects all segments of the population.

Seventy-one percent of boomers, those born between 1946 and 1964, drank alcohol in the past six months—the lowest rate of any generation and a 2 percent drop from three years ago, according to IWSR, a market researcher for the global beverage industry.

In contrast, 74 percent of Gen Z who are of legal drinking age said they drank in the past six months, up from 66 percent three years ago, while young adults in their 20s and 20s account for the majority of adults who drink at 76 percent.
