Taco Bell focused on the outbreak of diarrhea; green leaves are considered

Lettuce and salad greens have been the main suspect in outbreaks of diarrheal pathogens. Cyclosporawhich is spreading across the country but is most explosive in Michigan.

In recent years, Michigan has reported about 50 cases of cyclosporiasis, which causes diarrhea, vomiting, and nausea. But, this year, starting July 14the government said 3,309 people have been diagnosed with foodborne illness. Of them, 44 were hospitalized.

Based on interviews with more than 1,000 people who got sick in Michigan, the latest data points to leafy greens as the source, according to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
