World Cup 2026: Who will win the tournament? A view of the semi-finalists

Spain – the best team.

France – the best players and the most fearsome attack.

Argentina – Best idea: doing more with less than anyone else.

England – Two world class players in form.

All four semi-finalists have what it takes to win the tournament.

If Spain take the ball away from France and stop their counters – and if they are more efficient than ever – they have a very good chance of reaching the final.

But they have to play the perfect game, with the perfect (or very good) Lamine Yamal.

Argentina will try to make the match against England unpleasant, and then wait for a moment from Lionel Messi or Julian Alvarez. But they are playing with fire.

England are still trying to find their identity but they have a huge amount of personality and two world-class stars.

Spain vs England final will be incredible. And in a way it’s a win-win for me, but I want England to win the World Cup soon. This could be summer.

Spanish fans in the US:

Lionel: France will be difficult but I think we can beat them and, if we do, we have a strong chance. We are strong in attack and strong in defence. The only downside is that Pedri has yet to play at this top level.

jack: Argentina look strong but England cannot be dismissed. They have Harry Kane, who is one of the toughest strikers in the world.

Michelle: Spain will win the tournament, I have no doubt. Nobody is giving us a chance against France but we will control the match and beat them. The winners of those games will win the tournament.
