Josh Kerr’s world mile record attempt is confirmed for the London meet

The Scot will look to build on his display at Friday’s Diamond League meeting in Monaco, where he finished a close second to Kenya’s Emmanuel Wanyonyi as Olympic and world 800m champion and narrowly broke the long-standing men’s 1,000m world record on his debut at the race distance.

Wanyonyi joins Whitman in London, along with Canadian Olympic silver medalist Marco Arp, US Olympic finalist Bryce Hoppel, and Ireland’s Mark English and English duo Max Bergin and Ben Pattison.

Olympic champion Keeley Hodgkinson leads a strong English team in the women’s 800m with world silver medalist Georgia Hunter Bell, a race that will also feature Netherlands femme Broders-Boal, who has moved up the distance from the 400m hurdles – where she has won multiple worlds.

Julien Alfred heads to London after a blistering run in Monaco, with the third-fastest women’s 200m time in St Lucian history, a world lead and a personal best.

Double Olympic medalist American Gabby Thomas and English trio Dina Asher-Smith, Amy Hunt and new British champion Success Eduan will defend her London title against a world-class field.
