Kimi Antonelli – 9/10
As Damon Hill put it in our 5 Live commentary, it was an exciting weekend for the young Italian, who overshadowed his Mercedes team-mate George Russell. Three poles and three wins on the trot are a concern for the competitors.
Lando Norris – 9/10
He took advantage of McLaren’s upgrade package to win the title on Saturday. As he didn’t show up on Sunday, the wet weather may have seen him win the race.
Oscar Piastri – 7/10
Strong enough from Australia but far behind his McLaren teammate Norris. Some good battles with Russell in the race.
George Russell – 6/10
He was overshadowed by teammate Antonelli this weekend. Russell couldn’t find the grip he needed and never really got into his rhythm.
Max Verstappen – 6/10
Huge strides made by Red Bull this weekend but a rare mistake on the first lap sent him into a spin. Verstappen was handed a five-second penalty for crossing the white line on the pit exit, marking a disappointing Sunday. But lots of positives to take away.
Lewis Hamilton – 5/10
Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc followed all weekend. A slow pit stop during the race didn’t help his cause, along with an injury sustained in a collision with Alpine’s Franco Colapinto.
Franco Colapinto – 8/10
His best weekend. Faster each session. His capable Alpine team-mate Pierre Gasly and running well in the race were rewarded with a good wheel-to-tyre battle (probably a tad closer to Hamilton) and crucial points.
Charles Leclerc – 6/10
It seems like wasted potential for Charles in Miami. It was there or thereabouts all weekend but just missing that extra bit. A mistake that sent him into the wall on the last lap didn’t do his best in the race and a 20-second penalty after the race cost him points for repeatedly going off the track and gaining the advantage.
Carlos Sanz – 7/10
The team was unhappy with Williams after practice, as the team seemed to have dropped back from midfield. So saving points on Sunday is a big win.
Alex Albon – 7/10
Looking more comfortable in the car and breaching track limits, his team-mate Sainz looked ahead before qualifying for the sprint. A quiet race, however, is outranked by points.
Oliver Bearman – 6/10
After finding the measure of team-mate Esteban Ocon in the first three weekends, the Briton looked behind in the early stages of Miami but soon found a way back to the front. Unfortunately, it looks like Haas haven’t taken the steps forward that some of their midfield rivals have.
Gabriel Bortoleto – 5/10
Tough weekend for the Audi team as a whole. He bowed his head and rewarded the team for their hard work by ending the reliability problems.
