Women’s Super League: Liverpool sign goalkeeper Khira Keating

Keating, who made his England debut at the Etihad Stadium in October 2025, became Liverpool’s fourth signing of the summer.

She had to compete with Japan’s Ayaka Yamashita for City’s number one shirt last season and only started four WSL games as they also won the Women’s FA Cup.

Keating is still regarded as one of the country’s best young goalkeepers and was called up by England manager Sarina Wigman for June’s crucial Women’s World Cup qualifiers against Spain and Ukraine, but was ruled out through injury.

She was part of the victorious Euro 2025 squad and will be looking to regain a regular place for next year’s Women’s World Cup in Brazil.

The Liverpool boss handed Taylor Keating his WSL debut and oversaw his breakout campaign in 2023-24.

That season, at the age of 19, he became the youngest goalkeeper to win the WSL Golden Glove award, keeping a total of nine clean sheets.

Keating, who previously had short loan spells at AFC Field and Coventry United, also has experience of the Women’s Champions League.

“The start of my career has been nothing short of amazing. I have achieved the platform so far and done brilliantly. But I needed that missing (piece) of the puzzle,” he added.

“I think Liverpool can be that – somewhere I’m playing week in week out and I’m getting good game time, playing with a good team and winning trophies.”

Liverpool were in the market for a goalkeeper after Jennifer Falk’s successful loan move ended in May and hopes of a permanent deal faded.
