World Cup 2026: France, Spain, England and Argentina Statistical Analysis

With Argentina, England, France and Spain just two games away from glory, we compare the performances of the four semi-finalists so far to find out who will lift the World Cup at the weekend.

With all teams playing 6 games, Argentina played one hour of football with France and Spain going into extra time (and England an extra half hour), so we took time into account to get a truer picture of the stats.

Although champions Argentina have scored more goals (17), two-time World Cup winners France are ahead in average goals per 90 minutes, combined for more possessions and the highest number of goals conceded.

The South American team has been extremely clinical, converting 18% of their chances, in contrast to European champions Spain. Semi-final opponents France (110) conceded just 11 goals despite conceding 16 goals – fewer goals per game.

Considering both the quantity and quality of shots, England were less creative than the other three but still scored more than two goals per game thanks to clinical finishing from Jude Bellingham and Harry Kane.
