Nations Championship: Wales wing Josh Adams braces for toughest Test in South Africa

Wales showed a competitive spirit against Argentina and were looking for a pair of bonus points with the red clock.

But the Pumas were convincing winners in response to their opening round defeat to Scotland.

“We were a little bit off on our physicality, first time tackles, speed around the rock — the fundamentals where you need to be at this level,” Adams said.

“We still found ourselves in the Test match and it was going until they pulled away with a couple of scores before half-time.

“Argentina are a good team when they’re on top of you and if you’re not on it in the areas I’ve mentioned – and with your discipline – then teams will punish you.”

Wales face a South African side who have opened the Nations Championship with wins over England and Scotland.

Springbox Defeated Tandy’s team 73-0 at the Principality Stadium in November, when the hosts were stretched because the game was outside the World Rugby window.

Wayne Pivac’s Wells Won for the first time on South African soil In the second of the three Tests in 2022, when Adams scored the crucial try. Four years on, being competitive will be considered a success in Durban.

Wales again takes about a day’s travel with over 5,000 miles of travel that crosses five time zones.

Adams dismissed the issue after Scotland made the same trip and nearly stunned the Springboks before losing 42-28.

“Every team has to travel,” Adams said.

“Scotland have traveled and they have been in Tests for most of the game. So there will be no excuses.”
