Iran and the US are fighting again because they don’t see each other as ‘reliable allies’, says academic Ali Vaez.
Neither Iran nor the United States seem to be able to “knock on the price of acceptance” on the other side, and both know “they have no choice but to engage in negotiations”, argues Ali Vaez, director of the Iran Project at the International Crisis Group.
Vaez tells host Steve Clemons that Tehran and Washington are trying to “force their own interpretation” of the ceasefire agreement they signed last month.
President Trump is “disappointed” with the negotiations because he is not seeing “the immediate results he likes to see”, says Vaez.
