A lip-reading specialist has revealed the details of England’s head coach Thomas Tuchel’s angry message to his players during the World Cup semi-final match with Norway.
After falling behind by a goal, the English team was able to turn the table and finish the match with a thrilling 2-1 victory after extra time.
Although England were better in the first minutes of the quarter-finals of the World Cup, they failed to create real opportunities.
The Three Lions’ most dangerous chance came when Nico O’Reilly headed home from close range after a superb pass from Madueke, but apart from that strike England didn’t offer much until the first water break.
Thomas Tuchel, taking advantage of those minutes, scolded his players, reminding them of the reality of knockout games.
Lip reading expert Nicola Hickling told the paper The Daily MailThrough the Covers platform, “Tuchel told his players to work harder, move faster and stand firm.”

The German coach added: “I have to tell you something… Listen to the technical staff. We have to fight for our positions. Listen to the technical staff. Keep the ball low. Pay less and focus more on the ball.”
He also gave special instructions during corner kicks, saying: “You have to move to the right in the corners. Don’t come in front (directing him to Gordon #18). Your best place is the right side, that’s a fact.
He concluded his enthusiastic message by saying, “I want strength from everyone, this is your last chance, if we lose this game, we will leave the tournament, let’s go.”
Tuchel’s impassioned messages throughout the tournament proved an effective tool to motivate his players, but this time they failed to have an immediate impact.
Just a few minutes later, John Stones lost the ball in the England penalty area and almost gave Holland a dangerous chance, but goalkeeper Jordan Pickford was quick to come out and save the situation.
