All-Ireland SFC: Brennan calls on GAA to hire video technology

Dublin manager Ger Brennan has called on the GAA to introduce video technology to help officials make key decisions following his side’s All-Ireland SFC. Defeat to Kerry in semi-final.

Brennan felt three big decisions went in his favour, including Kerry’s early penalty, Kingdom’s second goal which could have gone back for a ‘square ball’ and Ross McGarry’s fisted effort which went perfectly over the line before Kerry cleared.

His side’s poor return in front of the posts was also a contributing factor in their four-point loss, with Brennan feeling it’s time for the GAA to introduce a VAR/TMO system for crucial moments.

“I feel strongly that today both sets of players, all the inter-county players as well, have to play video assistant technology for key decisions,” Brennan said.

“There were three key decisions that didn’t go our way today and if the officials had a chance to look quickly, take 30 seconds and stop the clock, those decisions would have gone the other way.

“Congratulations to Kerry. They were a bit more accurate. We had 10 more shots but just didn’t go over or in.

“Kerry took their chances and we finished with about a 55% shot (accuracy) rate and they were in the high 60s, so even though the decisions didn’t go our way we had plenty of chances.”
