South Korea’s Heeran Ryu felt she was living an “unrealized dream” after winning her second major title in a fortnight after defeating Brooke Henderson at the Evian Championships.

Ryu was forced to watch as Canadian Henderson, who had started off a seven-shot lead, put her back in contention and forced her to sign off at seven-under 64 with her third eagle on the final hole.

“This is just a dream now, because three weeks ago (before) I didn’t have a major championship, but now it’s two in a row,” she said, winning the Hazaltine Women’s PGA Championship in June.
“At the moment it’s an unrealizable dream, (there are) many great names on the trophy and I’m very happy that my name is here.”
Victory in Rio means she will collect $1.4 million (£1m) in top prize money and become one of only two players to win all four women’s majors.
World number one Nellie Korda, who missed the tournament at Evian-les-Bains, won the Chevron Championship and the US Women’s Open earlier in the season.
Ryu’s recent success is all the more remarkable given that she missed the cut at this event 12 months ago and is tied for a lowly 61st at the 2025 PGA in Frisco.
At one stage on Sunday, Aki Iwai looked capable of winning big for the first time.
The Japanese player shared the lead on the 18th with Ryu but a missed birdie putt meant she finished third on 18 overall.
Fellow players Miu Yamashita and Mao Saigo finished 3 shots at 15, along with South Korea’s Jin-Hee Im.
Anna Nordqvist is the leading European player at the age of 13, and the Englishman Charlie Hall and Second round leader Lottie Wade They were under eight.
