The father of Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani has died at the age of 74. During his 18 years in power, he transformed the country of Qatar into an international power, diplomatic and media powerhouse, overseeing the growth of its LNG industry, the establishment of Al Jazeera, and the rise of the country in the world.
