2026 World Cup: England boss Thomas Tuchel ‘not happy with performance’ – but why should they win?

England fought hard to beat Norway in the World Cup quarter-finals on Saturday, but manager Thomas Tuchel is concerned.

“We made life very difficult for ourselves,” Tuchel said. “The result is fantastic but I’m not happy with the performance.”

Thanking the players for their heart, he followed up with these quotes: “I am impressed with their efforts, team spirit and belief in overcoming adversity.

But I’m a football coach and I think we can play better. We had a lot of motivation for both teams. We made life difficult with the way we played, lack of discipline, too many technical errors, not being quick enough, not being repetitive enough.

So what did he want to see? More importantly, if his team isn’t playing the way it should be, why does he continue to win?
