Matthews predicts the results of the semi-finals of the World Cup
German football legend Lothar Matthaus made his predictions regarding the two semi-final matches of the 2026 World Cup.
France will play Spain next Tuesday, while Argentina will face England in the semi-finals on Wednesday. Matthews believes and expects that the match between England and Messi’s teammates will be very close.
Matthews said during his “Lothar Goes” program on the TV channel Bild:“Both teams have already shown their weaknesses, the English did not perform exceptionally in the match against Norway, and Thomas Tuchel was not satisfied either.”
For Matthews, this match will be very interesting and he said: “I feel it will be decided on penalties, 6-5.”

“Argentina will win because I trust the goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez more than England.”
Mathews bets on France reaching the second semi-final.
He continued. “This was Germany’s way to the semi-finals or even the final. This was my dream before the World Cup. My realistic dream.”
The 1990 World Cup winning star believes that the French team is the most likely candidate to win against Spain.
He emphasized. “Recently I have become a fan of France. Not just because of their creativity and attacking speed, but simply because they’re fun to watch.”
Matthews acknowledged Spain’s steady progress but ultimately expected France to win 2-1.
According to Matthews, this means that the final of the World Cup will be between Argentina and France.
