McGregor vs Holloway 2: Conor McGregor is injured 69 seconds into his UFC return.


Conor McGregor’s return to the Octagon against Max Holloway at UFC 329 came just 69 seconds after the Irishman suffered a knee injury.

McGregor came out of the gate with a couple of uppercuts, but missed on both occasions and ended up on the canvas.

The 37-year-old got back to his feet but looked unsteady and referee Mike Beltran stumbled and waved the contest off.

In the year It was McGregor’s first appearance in the UFC since breaking his leg in a loss to Dustin Poirier in 2021.

Holloway was looking to avenge a loss to McGregor when they first met in 2013 and has a record 28 wins in 37 fights.

“You guys are in luck because Holloway v McGregor 3 is going to happen now,” Holloway said.

“He is what he is. I’m staying with the UFC, there’s been a lot of hype for that. We’ve got to run it one more time. We need one more.”

“I’ve been looking forward to this. I’ve been working hard to get to 170lb and fight this guy. For it to end like this, it sucks.”

Holloway, a former featherweight champion, was making his welterweight debut at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The loss was McGregor’s seventh of his career and fourth in his last five fights, his only win since 2016.
