Canada City police initially received reports of an active shooter at 20:12 (01:12 BST) on St. Clair Street, where the Sals Festival was taking place.

Five victims who were shot by the police were found and two people died in the attack, he said.

Police urged the public to stay away from the area and said they would provide updates when available.
