After arbitrating a dispute
England booked their place in the semi-finals of the 2026 World Cup after a hard-fought 2-1 extra-time win over fellow Norwegians thanks to a brace from Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham in a thrilling match at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on Saturday night.

Under immense pressure, the British defense withstood successive waves of Norwegian attacks through Sorlot and Odegaard, before Bellingham equalized in first-half stoppage time with a perfectly low low strike from Anthony Gordon (45+2 mins).
Kane put England ahead shortly after, but Bellingham’s pass disallowed his goal for clear offside (45+5 minutes).

The disallowed goal is controversial
In the second half, Norway continued to push and almost pulled one back when Torbjorn Hegem headed home from a corner, but the referee disallowed the goal after Video Assistant Technology (VAR) intervention due to a foul by Holland on an England defender (55 minutes), applying the new rules approved by the IFAB board.
Norway came close to securing a crushing victory when Orsnes’s deflected shot hit Agger’s head on the post (76th minute), while England were left dangerous by Sakha’s run which was dismissed in the last minute (87th minute).

In extra time, Bellingham’s second goal decided the match in favor of the Three Lions, after substitute Morgan Rodgers’ strike (94th minute), became the true champions of England in this encounter.
Ben Spence almost conceded a penalty after a mistake by Pope, but the video aid overturned the original decision, while the Vikings did everything they could to get back into the game against a helpless England defense and England almost scored a third goal but for a crucial triple save from goalkeeper Neyland (110th minute).
