A Secret Service agent at a White House correspondence dinner was hit by a suspect’s bullet, prosecutors say.

Authorities in the United States have said that the man accused of trying to kill President Donald Trump is the one who shot Secret Service agents at a press dinner at the White House last month.
Authorities initially did not elaborate on how the agent – who was wearing a bulletproof vest – was injured. On Sunday, US Attorney Jeanine Pirro told CNN that investigators have confirmed that the agent was shot by an alleged gunman. Cole Thomas Allen.

“It’s definitely his bullet. He hit a Secret Service officer. He had the intention of killing him and anyone who got in his way, on his way to kill the president of the United States,” said Pirro.
“This was premeditated, violent, that wanted to topple the president, and everyone who was in the fire.”
He said the pellet that came from the suspect’s gun “connected with the thread” of the agent’s protective vest.
The conviction could lead to additional charges against the 31-year-old. It also rules out speculation that the agent may have been hit by so-called “friendly fire”.
The Justice Department announced three cases against Allen last week – attempted assassination of Trump, transporting firearms across states with intent to commit a terrorist attack and discharging firearms during riots.
Anyone found guilty of attempted murder is sentenced to life in prison.
Last week, Attorney General Todd Blanche said Allen traveled by train from his home near Los Angeles to Chicago and then to Washington, DC.
He arrived at the US capital on April 24, the day before dinner at the Washington Hilton hotel, and check in.
According to Blanche, during dinner, Allen approached the security checkpoint on the hotel floor, one level above the ballroom where Trump was.
“He ran through the magnetometer carrying a long gun. As he did so, the US Secret Service agents who were dispatched to the search area heard gunshots,” said Blanche.
“A Secret Service officer was shot in the chest, but he was wearing a flak that worked.
Authorities said Allen was carrying a handgun, a semiautomatic pistol and three knives.
The shooting, which appears to be the third assassination attempt on Trump since 2024, has shaken US politics. The White House has accused the US President’s Democratic opponents of encouraging political violence attacking words on leadership.
But Trump himself is known for his attacks on opponents, and critics accuse him of using firing squads against his opponents.
