Former England captain Heather Knight has announced her retirement from international cricket.

Knight, 35, joined the fray. Tammy Beaumont resigning Duty from England at the end of the ongoing Test match against India at Lord’s.

The batsman finished with 320 international caps, an England Women’s record, and led her country to the prestigious World Cup at Lord’s in 2017, replacing the legendary Charlotte Edwards last year.

“I’m very grateful and privileged to have been on the journey I’ve been on as an England cricketer,” Knight said.

“Because the dressing room and the people in the dressing room have been a constant in my life for 16 years, and the memories and the experiences and the people have helped me become who I am today, but I’m very satisfied with this decision and I’m very excited for what’s next.”

“Growing up as a young lad from Devon and playing against the boys, I never thought I’d get to experience this. It feels right to leave the game at Lord’s in this historic Test. It’s been an amazing 16 years, and I feel very lucky.”
