The incident has caused quite a stir Settler violence in the West Bank, which has been on the rise since Israel launched its deadly war on Gaza nearly three years ago.

Khanna, who is considering running for US president in 2028, warned that Israel had made a huge mistake.
On Thursday, he told the Reuters news agency that “hoodlums … with machine guns” had arrested his group yesterday. “They block the road. Then they call (the Israeli army) and (the Israeli army) are on their side,” Khanna said.

Cameron Kasky, an aide to Khanna who was in the group, said he was held for an hour and called for help from the US embassy in Jerusalem.
He said he was finally released and the police, who appeared to be police officers, intervened.
The Israeli military said soldiers and police intervened after receiving reports of squatters blocking cars near Khirbet Zanuta, a small Palestinian settlement where residents were forcibly displaced by violent attacks at the start of Israel’s 2023 Gaza war.
Israel, which has enjoyed extensive US support, has come under scrutiny in recent months, with both Republicans and Democrats calling for an end to US military aid.
Congress is reviewing new military spending legislation that, if passed, would deepen the US-Israeli security relationship. Republicans Thomas Massie and Khanna have been pushing lawmakers to end military aid to Israel.
Last week, Khanna said the House Rules Committee canceled a vote on a bill Massie introduced, which he co-sponsored, calling for an end to US funding for Israel’s military.
