Surrey couple to avoid World Cup clash as England host Norway at wedding

A couple who are getting married on Saturday say they are leaning towards the wedding World Cup by watching England’s quarter-final against Norway from the dance floor.

Georgia Halgaley and Jake Hawker say their wedding reception in Guildford will have a projector showing the ball so guests don’t miss the big game.

Georgia, from Frimley, said: “It’s either that or people are watching on their phones.” It will be good if England wins.

The bride said: “We’re a football-mad family on both sides – it really can’t be.”

She added: “When I woke up on Monday I was a bit nervous knowing there was going to be a clash, but I’ve come around to it.”

Jake, an avid soccer player who spent his time playing the sport in the United States, said he noticed and was plotting the potential conflict after the game’s release. England’s road to the final.
