Italian Maurizio Sarri, who is the coach of “Lazio”, has emerged as an unexpected candidate for the head coach of “Manchester City” if Pep Guardiola decides to leave the English giant in the summer of 2026.
Sarri, 67, previously worked in the Premier League, working for Chelsea.
Sarri took charge of Chelsea for less than 12 months in the 2018-19 season, winning 40 of 63 matches, before taking over at Juventus.
Citing Italian journalist Alfredo Pedula, the City Extra website reports that Sarri will meet with Lazio management at the end of the season to decide his future.
Napoli are believed to be one of the most popular candidates to sign Sarri, but Manchester City have also entered the race.
The site noted: Sarri will appear on the short list of Manchester City if Pep Guardiola decides to end his coaching career in the team.
No club has yet been directly linked with Sarri, but that could soon change as several clubs prepare to go without a manager over the summer and the World Cup is also approaching.
