Following a major backlash, Meta is shutting down a feature it announced this week that allowed users to create AI photos based on the content of a public Instagram account just by typing. This feature, as originally implemented, means that the content of a public Instagram account can be used for AI creations without the permission of the account owner.
“Earlier this week, we announced that one way to get people to use Meta AI is to @-mention their Instagram accounts that they want to mention,” Meta added. blog post about its new version of Muse Image AI. “Our goal was to provide a useful and effective tool for people to monitor whether public content can be shared in this way.”
Meta has let you out dig through the settings before turning off all sides, but the form still criticized a lot.
“This not only destroys our freedom to live our culture… but it is an obvious tool for #sextortion by other generations!” Haley McNamara, executive director and chief strategy officer of the National Center on Sexual Exploitation, he said on Friday. “Pursuing high-risk designs and creating opportunities for people to jump on the bandwagon to get out is unacceptable.”
