Midfielder Fabian Ruiz helped Spain set a historic record when he scored La Roja’s first goal in the 30th minute of the two teams’ clash against Belgium in the 2026 FIFA World Cup quarter-finals today, Friday.

The goal took Spain’s tally to 10 in the current World Cup, the first since the 2002 World Cup.

Ruiz’s goal also sealed success for Paris Saint-Germain as the Spaniard became the eighth Paris Saint-Germain player to score at the 2026 World Cup and the club’s top scorer during the current tournament.

After an easy victory over Austria (3-0) in the round of 32, and then a decisive victory over Portugal (1-0), the Spanish team qualified for the quarterfinals of the World Cup.
