In an unprecedented initiative on World Press Freedom Day, several clubs in France’s first and second leagues, including Stade Reims, Lille, Bastia, Lorient, Saint-Etienne, Metz, Brest, Montpellier, Lens, Rodez, Dunkirk and Nancy, announced their joint support for French journalist Christophe de Glace, who has been away for more than a month.
The move, initiated by the French Football League, aims to highlight the case of Glaze and highlight the importance of media freedom.
Last month, French football organized a charity match between Lens and Rouen in support of press freedom, a move that is in line with an ongoing series of solidarity events.

Participating clubs published a joint message on their official social media accounts calling for mobilization for Glaze’s release, attached to a petition launched by Reporters Without Borders.
Through this digital campaign, the clubs seek to widen the circle of support and encourage their fans to interact and participate in efforts to draw international public attention to the issue.
This collective stance is seen as a rare expression of the intersection of sport and civic engagement, where the message goes beyond sporting competition to emphasize shared human values.
It is expected that other French clubs will join the initiative in the coming hours, while international calls for the release of the French journalist are increasing.
