Alexander Zverev ended Briton Arthur Fery’s surprise Wimbledon run with a 7-6(0) 6-2, 6-4 victory to reach Sunday’s final, where he will look to win back-to-back Grand Slam titles after a successful French Open.
Fresh from his Roland Garros victory that gave him the breakthrough he has been waiting for for years, the German made the fifth final and will face either Wimbledon champion Jannik Sinner or seven-time champion Novak Djokovic.

“Whether it’s a champion or someone who has won here 48 times, it’s not going to be easy, no matter who they’re up against,” Zverev joked about Djokovic, who is aiming for a record 25th Grand Slam crown.
“But I have to believe in myself and I have to believe that I can win and that’s what I’m going to do.”
On a warm Friday afternoon buffeted by strong winds, Zverev took time to find his stride as he traded early breaks with Fery, but it all went smoothly in the match as the 29-year-old did not drop a point to win the first set.
“It was amazing … Arthur, what an incredible player,” Zverev said.
“He will be a big man in our journey, because I think he will play for 15 more years, and he will have great results. This is just the beginning of his career and I think he will do amazing things.”
Fery, who is aiming to become only the second man to make the final as a giant after Goran Ivanisevic at Wimbledon in 2001, held on in the next set, but found himself 1-4 down as his more experienced opponent called hard.
The Center Court crowd rallied behind Fery after the 23-year-old appeared to be letting his frustrations fester, but were soon silenced as Zverev unleashed his fiery forehand for the most serious of the match.
“I know that 99.99 percent of the court wanted Arthur to win, but – it’s still such a strange situation,” Zverev added.
“It was a great crowd. I enjoyed every second of the match. Many stadiums around the world could emulate this crowd. It’s one of the best games to play tennis in front of.”
With two sets to love, Zverev continued to dominate Fery and went through a clinical routine to ensure he became only the 13th man in the professional era since 1968 to reach a Grand Slam final.
“This Grand Slam is always the one I fight for the most and now suddenly, I’m in the final at Wimbledon, so I’m very happy and proud,” Zverev said.
“But we’ve got another game to go on Sunday, that’s where we’ll focus.”
