Sir Anthony Hopkins to release debut album Life is a Dream.

Laura Monks, president of Decca Classics, said the group was “thrilled” to work with “such a legend”.

“There was a lot of energy in the office, everyone was buzzing with excitement because we were helping him achieve a life-long dream,” she said. BBC Radio Wales Drive.

Monks, who watched Hopkins record the album, said the band had a treat on their hands and that his “lifelong knowledge of classical music” was evident to those in the room.

“He was listening intently to the music, taking notes, it was something special and special just to see,” she said.

Sir Anthony continues to pay tribute to Wales on the other tracks of the album, My Fatherland.

He wrote the piece to “celebrate my humble beginnings,” he says, “I am the son of my father’s baker.”

Other compositions on the album are memories of Port Talbot, childhood visits with his grandfather, the cinema that first captured his imagination and people close to him.

Sir Anthony’s portrayal of Hannibal Lecter in The Silence of the Lambs In 1992, he won the Academy Award for Best Actor.

He went on to star in “The Silence Of The Lambs” sequel Hannibal (2001) and the sequel Red Dragon (2002).

The actor won a second Oscar in 2020 for his role in Florian Zeller’s The Father, starring Olivia Colman.
