The legend of Algeria spoke about the reasons for the loss of “Atlas lions”.
Algerian football legend Rabah Majer has criticized the Moroccan national team’s style of play during their 2026 World Cup match against France, saying they lost the match because of fear of “roosters”.
The Moroccan team bid farewell to the 2026 World Cup in the quarterfinalsyesterday, Thursday, after the 0-2 defeat against France.
Madger said in his statements to MBC 1’s “Nadina” program. “Fear is what made the Moroccan national team fall back, and when I saw how he started the match, I said it was a bad start.”
He added: “When you start the match defensively, you signal to the French team that you fear it, which gives them the opportunity to control, attack and look for goals, and they found them in the second half.”
“The Moroccan team should not have been afraid, imposed their personality on the game and played like they did against the Netherlands and Brazil, while realizing the strength of the French team and that it was the most popular candidate to go through.”
He continued. “The Moroccan team didn’t start moving until the second half, after the French team took control of the game and scored two goals, especially since they have two teams, one of which is the main team and the reserve team is stronger than him.”
The Algerian football legend also refused to accept the superiority of the Moroccan team in the Arab world due to its strategy, given that it defeated the Dutch team on penalties in the 32nd round of the World Cup.
He concluded. “If the Moroccan team had lost to the Netherlands, we wouldn’t be saying that now, but they managed to go through the penalty shootout.”
Majer’s statements angered Moroccan and Tunisian football stars Rachid Toussi and Radhi Jaadi, who highlighted the great superiority of the Moroccan national team, especially at the level of planning and strategy.
