Norwegian Alexander Sorlot is going to participate in the World Cup quarter-final match against England.

Sorlot’s time in the English Premier League is still remembered for fun rather than sport, as Crystal Palace fans remember him for his sarcastic message to Premier League Fantasy users, more than he is remembered for his goals.
Sorlot, a current Atletico Madrid forward, played for Crystal Palace between 2018 and 2020, but spent most of that time on loan at other clubs.
He was a young and inexperienced player at the time, and although his physique suggested his ability to shine in the Premier League, the fast pace and high pressure of the competition affected his level.
Crystal Palace fans still remember the sarcastic letter he penned to one of the Premier League Fantasy players after keeping him captain all season despite his limited appearances.
“I know I don’t score goals, I don’t score many goals, and I barely even play,” Sorlot joked at the time. “So it makes me very happy to know that someone still believes in me for the 15 times I’ve played this year.”
In fact, that period was one of the toughest in the Norwegian striker’s career, and while he was at Crystal Palace he briefly played alongside Ebereci Eze, who he will now face in an England shirt.
The team was then under the leadership of veteran manager Roy Hodgson, who did not tolerate mistakes or the lack of enthusiasm that Sorlot displayed in some matches.
“When you’re a player who only comes on in the last few minutes, it affects your confidence and you feel like you’re not good enough for the starting line-up. This creates psychological pressure, especially if you are a striker. In one of the first games, I unfairly scored against Chelsea, and if that goal had counted.
During the two years he was linked with Crystal Palace, with loan spells at Gent in Belgium and Trabzonspor in Turkey, Sorlot made just 20 appearances, scoring one goal, which came in the League Cup, and providing one assist.
So he left London without scoring a single goal in the English Premier League.
However, nearly a decade on from that experience, Sorlot still has a strong reputation in English football, with clubs such as Newcastle United, Fulham and Everton all expressing an interest in signing him.
The quarter-final against England will once again reveal the nature of the Norwegian striker’s relationship with English football after his difficult years in the Premier League.
