Barcelona have hit the first hurdles in their bid to sign German international Karim Adeyemi after Borussia Dortmund rejected the Catalan club’s opening bid. However, all indications are that negotiations have not reached an impasse given the player’s clear desire to wear the Blaugrana shirt.
Barcelona see the signing of 24-year-old Karim Adeyemi as a unique opportunity in the summer transfer market, especially as the player himself has made it one of his priorities to join the Catalan club as a move he has always dreamed of achieving.
According to the newspaper,Mundo Deportivo:Barcelona agreed personal terms with the player before submitting an official offer of €20 million to Borussia Dortmund, but the German club’s management rejected the offer, believing the fee did not reflect the player’s potential.
Despite the rejection of the first offer, Borussia Dortmund have sent a positive message to Barcelona, stating that the door to negotiations is still open and that the club is ready to discuss the player’s future if they receive an offer that meets their financial requirements.
Dortmund know their position is not an easy one with Adeyemi’s contract expiring at the end of next season, while there is no indication the two sides are close to agreeing an extension. The player also favors a move to Barcelona, which puts the German club at risk of losing him on a free transfer after a year if an agreement is not reached this summer.
Meanwhile, Dortmund are aware of the technical and marketing value of the player, who is regarded as one of Germany’s top talents, with great physicality and speed, in addition to his international experience with the German national team, prompting the club to demand adequate financial compensation before agreeing to his departure.
As for Barcelona, he was relaxed about the rejection of his first offer as he does not see a deal as an absolute priority in the current transfer window, given the focus of the sport’s management on signing a direct striker to strengthen the front line.
However, the Catalan club still see Adeyemi as an important opportunity in the market and will continue to work on a deal if the financial demands remain within the limits corresponding to their economic situation, while they will withdraw from the negotiations if the value of the deal increases significantly.
In light of this scenario, the chances of completing the deal seem to be there, especially if both the player and Borussia Dortmund favor a convergence of views, allowing all parties to reach an agreement before the transfer window closes.
