Brennan returned to the sidelines after a 12-week ban in the win over Cavan following a round one defeat to Louth and improving in the Dublin game.
That ban, along with Donegal manager Jim McGuinness escaping a similar punishment for taking part in a fracas against Kerry, could create a “siege mentality” according to Beggan, but some below-par displays earlier this year could also have woken the team up.
“It’s extra encouragement to have him back in the line, but we can’t forget that Dublin were knocked over the line against Wicklow in the Leinster quarter-final,” he continued.
“Maybe games like this have helped push them forward because they can think ‘we’re not as good as we think we are, so we’ve got to kneel down here’ and I can imagine Ger saying something similar in the background.
“It wouldn’t surprise me if they get the result this weekend. I still think it’s Kerry’s win but you never know with this championship.”
Kerry have been building throughout the Championship as after their first round defeat to Donegal, they ruthlessly put Kildare and Armagh to the sword.
It’s a tough quarter-final against Tyrone, but according to Beggan it could be a “blessing in disguise”.
“Maybe some are starting to think that Kerry might be available, but like Dublin, they have players back and three massive games that will bring Joe O’Connor and Gavin White and that will be a serious help to get them over the next few weeks.
“Kerry are still clear favorites but the game against Tyrone will keep the mind focused.”
