A FIFA statement said: “The FIFA Disciplinary Committee has imposed the following sanctions on England national team player Jarrell Quansah, who was sent off as a result of a straight red card during the FIFA World Cup 2026 match between Mexico and England on 5 July 2026 at the Mexico City Stadium:
“2-match suspension for violation of Article 14 of the FIFA Disciplinary Code.
“The suspension will be served in England’s upcoming matches at the FIFA World Cup 2026 and in accordance with FIFA Disciplinary Code 69.”
The Football Association could not appeal against the red card but is understood to have made its feelings known to FIFA earlier in the week, particularly around the VAR process.
Haaland called on the media to build pressure on England ahead of the World Cup clash
