Hakimi has become a World Cup veteran
Achraf Hakimi continued to make history at the World Cup as he equaled Senegal’s all-time record for most caps by featuring for Morocco against France in the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup on Thursday.
Hakimi played 16 matches in the history of his participation in the World Cup, equaling the number of matches of the entire Senegal team in the history of the tournament.

Hakimi also cemented his position as the most capped African player at the World Cup, ahead of compatriots Azedin Onahi (13 caps) and Yassin Bunou (12 caps).
