Google’s Nest Thermostat has reached its best price of the year

If you are looking for an affordable way to reduce the cost of cooling, Google’s Nest Thermostat can help. It has smart and energy-saving controls, and is currently on sale for $79 (off $50), its best price of the year, at Amazon.

The smart thermostat installs quickly and makes it easy to adjust the temperature of your home whether you’re relaxing in bed or on the way home thanks to the Google Home app. You can also create schedules and control them with your voice using Google Assistant, Alexa, or another voice assistant compatible with Matter.

When turned on, the Nest Thermostat can lower the temperature while you’re away to reduce unnecessary energy use, while Google’s Savings Finder shows additional ways to save over time. It also monitors your HVAC system and can alert you if something doesn’t look right, making it easier to keep up with small issues before they become bigger, more expensive ones. If you’re eligible, Nest Renew can also shift some of your heating and cooling to times when electricity is cleaner or cheaper.

That said, this is a Google entry from 2020, so you’re missing out on some of the features available on the latest Nest Learning Thermostat. Unlike the popular model, it doesn’t automatically learn your schedule over time, for example, and it doesn’t have support for the Nest Temperature Sensor that lets you set the temperature in a certain room. Even so, if all you want is an easy way to adjust your home’s temperature remotely and lower your energy bills, the Nest Thermostat is still solid money at this price point.
