Finn Russell returns to Scotland in South Africa

Star fly-half Finn Russell is fit to start for Scotland against South Africa in the second round of Nations Championship action.

The 33-year-old replaced Tom Jordan at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Pretoria after missing last weekend’s 47-38 win over Argentina with a calf problem.

There are two other changes as tighthead prop Xander Fagerson and lock Gregor Brown come off the bench in Cordoba to take over from the injured Elliott Miller Mills and Jonny Gray in the starting XV.

Will Hurd, Josh Bayliss, Magnus Bradbury and Stafford McDowall have been added to the bench, with winger Darcy Graham ruled out for Scotland’s first tour of South Africa since 2014.

Among the replacements were hooker Gregor Hiddleston, who made his try-scoring debut against Argentina, and helped Rory Sutherland earn his 50th cap.

South Africa opened with a 45-21 win over England in Johannesburg.

The world champions made 10 changes, with Siya Kolisi, Eben Etzebeth, Cheslin Kolbe and Sacha Feinberg-Mongomezulu rested.

Scotland: Rowe, Steyn, Hutchinson, Twipulotu (capt), Dobie, Russell, White; Schoeman, Ashman, Z Fagerson, Brown, Cummings, M Fagerson, Darge, Dempsey.

Replacements: Hiddleston, Sutherland, Hurd, Samuel, Bayliss, Bradbury, Jordan, McDowall.
