Coway Airmega Mighty2 Review: The Next Option Is Better Than The First

The Mighty2 has a built-in AQI (air quality index) monitoring with the MegaScan laser sensor to detect the size of three air particles: bacteria and microplastics; smoke, smoke, allergens, and fine dust; and dust mites, pollen, pet dander, and mold. The detector can measure in real time the amount of pollution in the air, including fine particles.

Coway uses its own brand-name engine, but the Mighty2 uses a different version from the OG Mighty brand. Now the air light flashes blue for healthy air, green for medium, orange for unhealthy, and red for unhealthy. Coway’s color-coding system is a bit confusing, considering it differs from US Air Quality index Levels of healthy green, unhealthy red, and unhealthy brown. At first glance, I was often confused as to what the color meant for my home’s air quality. Using built-in air sensors, the Mighty2 automatically adjusts its fan speed (in auto mode) to effectively clean the air based on changes in air quality.

When I try, I usually use it in my bedroom next to my cats’ boxes; next to my living room window, which has a lot of outdoor smoke and pollutants; and in my kitchen I cook on my gas stove, which does not have enough ventilation. I tested this model for a few weeks, walking around my house and letting the air purifier cycle from time to time when the air became unhealthy. Although I usually use the auto mode, I also tested the calculator and sleep mode, which always work as expected, and I appreciate the automatic sleep mode when it’s dark, when I forget to change the settings at night.

For all air purifiers, I test the air with mine air quality monitor in different situations, and use a decibel monitor to measure the amount of cleaner at the highest setting. I also use a sealed tent and smoking cigarettes to see how well each air purifier removes smoke (and recirculates the air for better quality) inside the tent while you’re on fire. In the smog test, the Mighty2 took 50 seconds for the smoke to be visible, and another three minutes and 20 seconds for the exhaust gas light to read the air quality of the vehicle (from red to blue). In the test is a little price Levoit Vital 200Sthe smoke dissipated in about 40 seconds and took another four and a half minutes to count as fresh air. Although the numbers are the same, the Mighty2 was faster. However, I really appreciated having the Levoit app to check the air quality and purification via my phone (since the purifier was covered in smoke), and the app let me know when it arrived again.

According to my decibel reader, the Mighty2 hovered around 65 to 70 dB at maximum volume, and was about 35 dB at sleep mode, not even registering the reader above the noise level of my house. In fact, the hum of the refrigerator is between 40 and 50 decibels, and the conversation is about 60 decibels. Even at the highest level, it is not too loud and gives a clean sound. Ideally, an air purifier should clean the air in your room five times an hour without reaching conversational noise levels. On auto and sleep modes, the fan noise is not noticeable.

If you are a fan of Coway air purifiers, or want to upgrade your air purifier from an older model, the Mighty2 is a solid choice. It’s only $30 more than the previous model, it can clean more feet per hour, and its filters last twice as long as before. The Mighty2 upgrade will pay for itself for a year of use through automatic filters. It’s easy to clean and break down, and the cleaner helped to keep my cats’ residual dust down, reduce drying time during shedding, and improve ventilation around their toilet/living area.
