Argentina cemented their place in World Cup history after overturning a 3-2 deficit against Egypt in the round of 16 of the 2026 FIFA World Cup last Tuesday, allowing the reigning champions to secure a place in the quarter-finals and achieve two unprecedented achievements in their history.
The victory made Argentina only the second team from outside Europe to win a World Cup qualifying match from two goals down, after Brazil, who achieved the same victory against Sweden on 19 June 1938.
