T20 Blast: Chris Lynn century helps Northamptonshire into quarter-finals

The Steelbacks lost just once, against Somerset in comprehensive fashion on Sunday, and bounced back in style to qualify for the quarter-finals.

North Glamorgan were quick out of the blocks, with skipper Kieran Carlson scoring 42, but after he was dismissed in the seventh over, Northants started to turn the screw, sending the Welsh team 65-2 to 164 all out.

Calvin Harrison took 3-20, while Zaib (2-27) and James Sales (2-21) helped Northants upset the hosts’ batting line-up.

Will Schmidt scored 89 runs Somerset In a total of 214-6, Martin Anderson took 3-33, as they refused to give up hope of retaining their title. It sets up a tough task for the North Group contenders Derbyshire who fell short at 187-7.

Falcons captain Aneurin Donald hit 65 off 27 balls to help them to 74-2 in six overs, but Derbyshire stuttered once Harry Kamm was dismissed for 28 by Daniel Sams (3-29) in the 11th over.

Wayne Madsen made 43 but Somerset were comfortable winners in the end, although they will need two wins from their last two games to stand a chance of promotion.
