The star of La Roja expresses its identity with special symbols
Spain star Lamine Yamal continued to attract attention outside the green box during the 2026 World Cup.
Since the start of the World Cup, Yamal wants to show different messages and signs in each of his matches, with his famous headband or some special kits that put him in the spotlight.
Yamal was criticized at the start of the World Cup for wearing the flags of Morocco and Equatorial Guinea in honor of his parents’ countries, without the Spanish flag on his boots, before he responded by wearing the Spanish flag on his headband during the group stage.
As the knockout rounds began, the Barcelona player changed the message again, removing the Spanish flag and wearing an ‘Ego Yamal’ hat alongside the Adidas logo and his own in front of Austria, a move that was interpreted as a response to his critics.
Spain’s Radio Kobe reports that Yamal intends to use this phrase to respond to those who called him “Ego Lamine” on the Tik Tok platform, criticizing his personality, turning the description into his own message in the game during which he was awarded the best player award.
And in the round of 16 against Portugal, the band carried a different message as it bore the name ‘Roccafunda’, where he grew up in Mataro, and on the other side appeared the postcode ‘08304’ in honor of his hometown.

A final reference to Morocco
Over the past few hours, Lamine Yamal has continued to show her connection to her Moroccan roots, after she posted a story on her Instagram page that included a picture of a bag with special meaning symbols.
Several symbols appear on the bag, notably the Spanish flag, the Moroccan flag and the Barcelona shirt, as well as the World Cup model, in a message that reflects the player’s commitment to his multiple identities and not forgetting his past and Moroccan origins, as stated. AS newspaper Today is Wednesday.
The image was also a clear reference to Yamal’s big ambitions to win the World Cup title, as the image of the trophy appeared to be one of the most prominent symbols hanging from the bag as Spain continue their journey to the 2026 World Cup.
