After the refereeing dispute in the Egypt match…Argentina’s coach reacts
Argentina head coach Lionel Scaloni has responded to reports of FIFA favoring tango dancers after qualifying for the quarter-finals of the 2026 World Cup.
Yesterday, Sunday, the Argentina team reached the quarter-finals of the World Cup in a dramatic scenario, coming back from a 2-0 score against Egypt, scoring 3 goals in the last minutes of the game.
The game witnessed numerous arbitration disputes and objections from the Egyptian side.despite conceding a fatal 3rd goal for Argentina and they awarded a penalty to Mohamed Salah early in the game.
French referee Francois Lettxer also disallowed Egypt’s second-half goal for a foul on Marwan Attia early on, before the attack ended in a goal.
This arbitration dispute has led some to accuse FIFA of consistently supporting Argentina at major tournaments, and others to describe it as FIFA’s “spoilt boy”.
At the press conference held after the Egypt match, Scaloni was asked how he feels about this issue, to which he replied:
He added: “If you don’t look at it, you won’t discover it. The thing is, now anyone can write and publish whatever they want, and it may not be based on a foundation.”
He continued. “Sometimes something as small as this turns into something very big, doesn’t it?”
He continued his statements. “I think that this issue should not be emphasized, communication media have these things, they have good things, but they also have these things.”
He concluded. “Today, whoever writes something gets spread quickly, and you can find it everywhere in a second, but that’s not what we care about.
