Mahmoud Hassan “Trezeguet” has set a new milestone in his international career with the Egyptian national team, but this has been the most brutal time for the Pharaohs.
Trezeguet came on as a substitute in the 2026 World Cup round of 16 match between Egypt and Argentina on Tuesday evening in the 73rd minute to record his 100th international appearance for Egypt.

Egypt came close to achieving a historic achievement by knocking out defending champions Argentina and reaching the quarter-finals for the first time in their history after goals from Yasser Ibrahim and Mustafa Zico put them ahead. However, Messi and his teammates won the final victory, scoring a hat-trick in 13 minutes to qualify for a very exciting match.
The Argentine national team met Switzerland in the quarter-finals, when the latter won 4-3 on penalties on Wednesday morning.
