FIFA condemns fan attack on IShowSpeed during World Cup match in Argentina | World Cup 2026 news

Agenitna’s agent told Speed that he should ‘go cry in the zoo’ during his match against Cape Verde in Miami.

FIFA has condemned the racist abuse committed by media professional IShowSpeed during his World Cup match in the United States.

Soccer’s world governing body issued a statement on Tuesday saying it “strongly condemns racism, hatred and bigotry in all its forms” after the actions of the American celebrity and fan during Argentina’s last 32 match against Cabo Verde last week.

“FIFA was notified of an incident involving a supporter with #IShowSpeed at the Miami Stadium during the match between Argentina and Cabo Verde on 3 July 2026 and immediately launched an investigation,” he said.

Speed, whose real name is Darren Watkins Jr, has attended and watched a number of World Cup matches in partnership with FIFA, US broadcaster Fox Sports and YouTube which allow him to broadcast official matches.

During Argentina vs Cabo Verde in Miami, Speed When asked what he was talking about, the fan told Speed in Spanish to “go cry to the zoo”.

The American celebrity has a social media following of more than 150 million – 57 million subscribers on YouTube, 50 million followers on Instagram, 47 million on TikTok and 4.1 million on X – and is an attraction at the World Cup stadiums.

Last month, Al Jazeera saw Speed being chased by fans at a World Cup match in New Jersey as he exited the stadium, surrounded by security.

FIFA said the World Cup was a celebration of “cooperation, diversity and respect” and the organization would not welcome anyone “who engages in actions that undermine this”.
