Meta is introducing a first-of-its-kind AI model developed by its Superintelligence Labs division. The Muse Image model now powering photo editing tools across the Meta AI app, Instagram, and WhatsApp, and coming soon to Facebook and Messenger, according to Tuesday’s announcement.
As explained by Meta, users can @ mention other Instagram accounts in the Muse Image prompts, allowing the AI model to include their features in its output. Meta says that “passwording allows Meta AI to use public images to create visuals,” but says users can control how people use it again content in AI.
Users can also edit images using the instructions provided and create designs for products such as invitations and postcards. In addition, Muse Image can update rooms based on a photo taken from Facebook Marketplace (or elsewhere on the Internet), and allow users to edit photos by drawing on top of them, which they can share to feed, news, or chat. The Muse Image version will launch 30 new AI features coming to Instagram Stories in the US before rolling out internationally and in more Meta apps soon.
