The Egyptian coach makes heated statements after the dismissal
Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has expressed his anger at the team’s “lack of competitive justice” against Argentina in the 2026 World Cup, saying he will not watch the rest of the games in the current edition.
The Egyptian team took a 2-0 lead against Argentina, but lost 2-3 today, Tuesday evening, in the round of 16 match to bid farewell to the tournament.
French referee Francois Leicher caused great controversy after he disallowed Egypt’s goal and awarded another questionable ball in favor of Tango.
In the post-match press conference, Hassan was asked if the Egyptian team had been punished for pro-Palestine statements against Argentina, and he replied: “I don’t want us to treat things like that.”
“I spoke yesterday,” he added. At the press conference held before the match) Young children are killed for humanitarian reasons, nobody feels anything here. The media should have supported the Palestinian cause.”
The coach continued. “Children in Gaza wear the jerseys of European clubs and teams. They love you, but you don’t feel for them.”
Reflecting on the details of what he said to the referee after he showed him a yellow card in the face, he said:
Hasan continued. “Due to the lack of fairness, I decided not to watch the remaining games of the current World Cup draw. When I return to my country, I won’t watch any match.”
Hasan revealed. “After the game I told the players that I am proud of them and that the team will improve. I didn’t expect more from them. We can challenge any competitor if there is justice.”
